After the Storm
After all the heavy rain you may have vacuumed up all the water, but what about the lingering effects?
The water on the floor is only half the problem. The building materials in your home act like a sponge and pick up the
water and retain it. This means that you may have hidden damage.
There is a 5 step process to drying up your basement after a flood.
1.
removal of the water and extraction from carpets and padding
2.
removal of any wet or damp building materials including carpet padding, baseboard molding and low sections of walls
3.
applying anti-microbial agents which are deodorants and mold inhibitors
4.
dry out the affected areas with commercial dehumidification units
5.
verify humidity levels in all remaining building materials with moisture meters
Skipping any of these steps will lead to odor.
The end product is a dry, odor-free area. Each space will be inspected for any pre-existing conditions and
recommendations will be made accordingly.
Once the area has been properly dried-out, the restoration process can begin.
